A traditional dish in Kerala cuisine, Tamil cuisine, and Udupi cuisine is Avial. It is a thick mixture of veggies and coconut that has been spiced with curry leaves and coconut oil. It is a crucial and traditional element of the Sadya, the vegetarian feast of the Keralites. Made with the goodness of elephant yam plantains, pumpkins, carrots, beans, brinjal, cucumbers, drumsticks, snake gourds, and avarai are used in avial which not only makes it a festive dish but is actually very healthy and delicious and can be made any time. According to the taste preference, some people would just rather skip the curd or use raw mango or tamarind pulp to have it along with which breaks and enhances the taste as well as you savour the authentic dish. This dish is usually had with rice that makes it a whole meal in itself.
