A delectable South Indian dish commonly known as Sweet Pongal otherwise known as Sakkarai Pongal or Chakkara Pongal is made with the goodness of rice, moong lentils, ghee, jaggery, sugar, cardamom, and is then garnished with nuts. It is a traditional dish prepared to honour and worship the gods during festivals. This meal is one of the Naivedhyam offerings made during Pooja to the gods or goddesses. It is indeed a delicacy which is prepared from the recently harvested rice and is best had during this time only as it concludes with all the festivities.
